The ULTIMATE Californian city. Trams, seafood, the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, stunning houses and hippy vibes.
What to do:
Explore the grid like city by tram...
Jump on and off the trams and explore the city from top to bottom. Watch the streets flash by whilst travelling on the original tram systems - a unique experience and one not to miss!
Visit Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39...
An area of the city which is buzzing with food, atmosphere, shopping and sunshine. Take a stroll down the coastline and take in the sights, making sure to stop and experience everything San Fransisco has to offer. Must do's include watching the sea lions at Pier 39 or tasting famous seafood from many of the restaurants.
Spend an afternoon in Haight-Ashbury...
Running adjacent to The Golden Gate Park, Haight-Ashbury is San Fransisco's district dedicated to celebrating colour, pride and bohemian energy. Where cultures and eras fuze together, you'll find a unique and thriving neighbourhood that you cannot miss!
Chill out at Ocean Beach...
Where the Golden Gate Park meets the Pacific Ocean, you'll discover Ocean Beach. Marvel at the white sands and endless waves and take an afternoon off from the bustle of the city.
This can be combined with a stroll through the Golden Gate Park. Rent bikes or walk the park, making sure to visit the Botanical Gardens, Japanese Tea Gardens, Californian Academy of Science and the parks numerous lakes.
Take photos at The Painted Ladies...
Another famous landmark and a great place to take a few snaps for the SF photo album.
**Make sure to get there early as this grassy verge can become very crowded!
Visit the house used in Mrs Doubtfire...
A definite favourite and nostalgic sight to see! The house used for the 1993 hit film, featuring Robin Williams in his strive to see his children by dressing up as a woman and pretending to be their housekeeper/child minder.
Watch a game, overlooking San Fransisco's bay...
An unexpected edition to my stay in SF, but one of my favourite evenings. Grab a drink and some buttery popcorn and settle down to experience the game. There's an unbeatable atmosphere you find at live sport and it's always fun to experience!
Spend a morning in Sausilito...
Just a short drive or cycle to the nearby village of Sausalito with its charming houses, sweet shops and cafes.
Make sure to tick off several of the Golden Gate Bridge viewpoints...
This iconic bridge is one of the main sights to see whilst in San Fransisco, so why not see it from several angles! Either take a boat ride at sunset under it, drive to the North vista viewpoint (the one in The Internship) or head to Crissy Field Beach for another charming view of the stunning bridge.
Where to stay:
During my stay in SF, I had the privilege of staying at The Argonaut Hotel, located in the Fisherman's Wharf. Stunning nautical decor, an amazing restaurant and prime location; you can't go wrong!
Where to eat:
You'll never be at a loss for finding places to eat in the city. There's something for everyone, every pallet and every fussy eater. My favourites include Tony's for authentic pizza, The Bueno Vista for coffee or evening drinks, Ghiradelli for famous chocolate treats and Cafe De Cafe for yummy, healthy breakfast or brunch. Another unmissable spot is the Cliff House, for a special treat overlooking the ocean.
